To follow up, it looks like the only things you need to move (or symlink) to have a working qt3 are: /sw/bin/sw/src/qt3-3.3.3-23/qt-x11-free-3.3.3/bin/qmake (to /sw/bin) /sw/share/qt3/sw/src/qt3-3.3.3-23/qt-x11-free-3.3.3/mkspecs (i.e.mkspecs should be a subdirectory of /sw/share/qt3) I tried this myself and was able to get qca to build. -- Alexander K.
