Xorg includes an XDarwin application!
But seriously, you should be able to switch from a fink xfree86
package (4.3.0 or later) to xorg cleanly. Is this not working for you?
Define switch.
switch -> completely replace one with the other without doing a bunch of nasty extra stuff.
Now that I think about it, though, I may have had an easy time because I did it (and have performed switches since) via binary operations (due to an earlier issue my XFree86 was no longer listed as a Fink package, so I had to remove it manually)
One possible quick workaround is:
1) Make sure /sw/etc/apt/sources.list knows to look in your unstable tree, i.e. you have a line that says:
deb file:/sw/fink unstable main crypto
2) run "fink scanpackages"--this should make xorg and xorg-shlibs known to apt-get
3) Use "sudo apt-get install xorg". This should work, since apt-get automatically deals with the issue of all of your stuff that depends on X.
