Hi,
I use the imapd that comes with pine(-ssl). Pine works perfectly on it
and it still does, because I tunnel through ssh. However, in all cases
when I have to login manually (e.g. using Apple's Mail application), the
login fails.
I have Mac OS 10.3.
It used to work until I have changed from basic password to shadow password. <http://www.oreillynet.com/cs/user/view/cs_msg/26273> says that for 10.3 with shadow passwords the imapd needs to be compiled differently.
BTW, I am wondering why Pine and IMAP are not two separate packages, independent from each other.
Greetings, Claus
I've got a file (only readable and writable by root) called /etc/cram-md5.pwd which contains <user>[TAB]<password> pairs, e.g.
myusername mypassword
Note: the password doesn't have to be your login password.
That allows the imapd from the Pine package to work for me. -- Alexander K. Hansen Fink Documentarian Day Job: Levitated Dipole Experiment http://www.psfc.mit.edu/LDX
