It was staring me in the face the whole time ... eeks! I don't know all of what I put in /usr/local (or why) but I do remember experimenting with MySQL 5 a few months ago. I'm trying your suggestion now ... thanks for the quick response!

I'd bet /usr/local/lb/libstdc++.dylib is causing your problem. Try temporarily renaming /usr/local while you build.
