This is strange. On my system, both the old and new versions of xaw3d install a library with install_name /sw/lib/libXaw3d.7.dylib.

Viv: I've updated xaw3d in cvs so that it will always have revision number 7 - hopefully this will fix the xorg issue. I've also put it in ftp://ftp.cdc.noaa.gov/Public/jsw/xaw3d.info (should be there by 7am), so you won't have to wait for all the mirrors to update. Thanks for helping me track this down. Please let me know if there are still problems.

I also verified that (with no rebuilding) both gv and xfig fail with this version. Not forgetting the subject of this thread, I have therefore reverted to the old version again, 'cos I need xfig to work, and Martin says that rebuilding against the new xaw3d doesn't do it for xfig.
