I have been using fink for several years, and currently have version

I was trying to install gnome, and ran into some errors. I thought that
perhaps a selfupdate would help, so I tried that. I got errors on that,
and now I have an installation that doesn't work at all.

If I do fink scanpackages, I get:
No package name in /sw/fink/dists/stable/main/finkinfo/sci/pari-gp.info

If I do fink selfupdate, I get
rsync -az -v rsync://sfo.ca.us.finkmirrors.net/finkinfo//TIMESTAMP
/sw/fink/TIMESTAMP.tmp
receiving file list ... done
/sw/fink/TIMESTAMP.tmp

I will now run the rsync command to retrieve the latest package

Ah--these errors could due to .info files using new features that aren't found in your version of fink.

I checked the archives for problems updating, and found no reference to
this. I downloaded the tarball and tried the "Manual" instructions, but
that didn't work either. When I got to "./inject.pl /sw", I got the
following:
Can't locate Fink/FinkVersion.pm in @INC (@INC contains:
/Users/dtlinker/fink-0.7.1-full/perlmod

Hmmm...it definitely should be there....

I also downloaded the installer for a new installation, but it
specifically says not to use it for upgrading.

Any and all advice welcome!

What does your current fink version show up as, i.e run:

fink --version
