Better yet, make sure the computer never changes its name.  Edit the
line specifying HOSTNAME in /etc/hostconfig so it says

HOSTNAME=theknife

(or whatever you wish to call your mac).

It may be a good idea to also edit /etc/hosts to contain

127.0.0.1       localhost theknife
::1             localhost theknife
