John,
Recently I installed a MacOS X program called BOINC daemon. In its ReadMe file it discusses using SystemStarter to start and stop the daemon. Its installer script sets it up to run as a daemon.

Howdy,
I wanted to play around with some web development stuff I'm working on. So I installed apache and postgresql with fink. Now I wanted to be able to start and stop the daemons. So my question is how are scripts started. I found the following directory:
/sw/etc/daemons
which I believe has something to do with my question. I assume the xml files in that directory are read and executed. Can someone elaborate on this? Specifically, how do I specify which daemons are starting and which are not at boot time. Also, how do I manually start and stop daemons?
