I wanted to play around with some web development stuff I'm working on. So I installed apache and postgresql with fink. Now I wanted to be able to start and stop the daemons. So my question is how are scripts started. I found the following directory:
/sw/etc/daemons
which I believe has something to do with my question. I assume the xml files in that directory are read and executed. Can someone elaborate on this? Specifically, how do I specify which daemons are starting and which are not at boot time. Also, how do I manually start and stop daemons?
The Fink daemonic system was developed in the early days of Fink and has managed to survive without any development effort for more than 3 years. AFAIK the only information available is obtained with the commands "fink info daemonic" and "daemonic".
Basically, you can (or fink does) use it to add daemons to (or remove them from) the system startup items. Using it for manually starting and stopping daemons has been in the plans for 3 years but was never implemented.
