Are you sure you have the new version? Run

fink dumpinfo gnome-python2-py23 | grep gobject

and see if it returns anything.

The above returns nothing. Is that good or bad?

It is bad. The good versions reply

(export CPPFLAGS='-I/sw/include'; export LDFLAGS='-L/sw/lib -lgobject-2.0'; /sw/bin/python2.3 setup.py build)

I am seeing now how this is possible: When I made the change, this version existed (on my computer) only in the unstable tree, so I fixed it only there. Some hours before, but unnoticed by me, the whole gnome-2.6 stuff was finally moved to stable, and this included gnome-python2-py23 in its unfixed version. So you got the version from stable which was not fixed yet. It is fixed now on the CVS server. If you don't want to wait for it to appear on a selfupdate, you can just copy the file gnome-python2-py23.info from /sw/fink/dists/unstable/main/finkinfo/gnome/ to /sw/fink/dists/stable/main/finkinfo/gnome/
