First, my apologies for posting the same message twice.

Assuming you have really updated fink and the packages, I would suggest moving your initialization files (~/.xemacs) out of the way and restarting xemacs. If that works, there's a bug in your initialization files. Another guess: maybe one of the xemacs-packages isn't properly updated (check xemacs-sumo or whatever other packages you have installed - you didn't say which mode the problems pertain to).

Thanks for the quick answer.

If I restart with -q or -vanilla (equivalent to moving/removing .xemacs), the problem resurfaces as soon as I activate lazy-lock from the options menu. So it's either part of xemacs proper, or some pretty low-level packages. In fact, I've since discovered that the same problem occurs with Carbon Xemacs based on 21.5 -- so it must be the packages, or, conceivably, a library they both access. However, the problem *persisted* when I deleted and reinstalled xemacs-sumo (even via manually downloading from xemacs.org and completely replacing the xemacs-packages directories).

Weird, huh?

Hi-

I recently did an update-all from my 10.3 installation and a whole bunch of things got updated, including xemacs.

First, I had problems crashing xemacs when the 'progress bar' showed -- this was fixed by recompiling xemacs and xaw3d, which I found via google.

However, now there's another less severe but very annoying issue: The minibuffer more-or-less constantly shows the message "Fontifying region... (wrong-type-argument markerp nil)". This is more than just annoying since it actually masks other messages in the minibuffer, including input/output there.

Any ideas?

Andrew
