I am excited to hear that there is now a version of gnucash that
builds on tiger! However, I too get stuck on gdk-pixbuf with the
same
error as you. Please let us know if you find a way to resolve this.

This one is beyond my expertise to figure out. Has anyone
successfully built
gnucash on a fresh install of Tiger and a fresh install of Fink?
Yes.
How did you
do it?
Clean install of Tiger, installation of fink as noted on the web site
for unstable users, modified fink.conf so that it does not rely on
stable (main or crypto) and does not try to use binary distribution.
Then compiling bundle-gnome (aka gnome 2.6); then installing gnucash-
docs (the newer version, see post on beginners), fails with gnome-
core, something involved in libnome-applet-dylib, then installing
gnucash-docs again, this time all ok.
I cannot say for sure that all works, but I've already created an
account.
Cheers,
Michèle
