I tried upgrading and mostly I only got packages repalced with the same
version. Anyway, it did not solve the problem.
I tried installing on a different system and there it works. At least it
displays the start page without crashing.

I tried recompiling gtk+2 as the only noticable difference on the broken
system is:
(mozilla-bin:28948): GdkPixbuf-WARNING **: Can not open pixbuf loader
module file '/sw/etc/gtk-2.0/gdk-pixbuf.loaders': No such file or
directory

However, gtk+2-2.4.9-8 does not build against xorg.

Reinstalling from binary package fixed the message, not the crash.

Thanks for suggestions.

For me it is acceptable to run Mozilla from the other machine, I only
wanted to test a plugin.
But any further suggestion to fix the problem are welcome :-)
