Unfortunately it seems that all the tools like this (debfoster, deborphan...) are not foolproof and can lead to unfortunately cases like this. Probably the reason is that some of the installed packages don't have the correct dependencies or something. I think that these programs have to be used very carefully... you should probably look at their suggestions and then do some investigation to make sure that the proposed changes are safe. I also like to have a relatively "clean" system, but usually keeping unneeded packages causes no problems, so it's safer to leave things installed if in doubt.
