I (and I believe a few other people) do have completely functional gnucash installs on Tiger, so there may be something in your setup that still isn't quite right. I know that I can *definitely* TAB between fields in the register. I do know that I ended up rebuilding most, if not all, of the gnome1 gnucash dependencies in the process of getting it running on Tiger, so that may be part of the issue. If you haven't checked already, you might want to see if any of the dependency file dates predate your Tiger install and do a 'fink rebuild' on those (although it is somewhat of a shot in the dark).

As far as taking forever to load, I've noticed that as well; someone pointed out that updating the prebinding can help matters greatly (in <https://lists.gnucash.org/pipermail/gnucash-user/2005- May/013915.html>, on the gnucash-users list); you might want to try:
$ sudo update_prebinding -files /sw/lib/*
and
$ sudo update_prebinding -files /sw/bin/*
to improve startup speed a bit.

Thank you very much. However, updating prebinding did not help at all. Michele's advice about using dynamic library fallback did not help, either. It is guile16 that gets stuck, sometimes forever. I did rebuild gnucash after I had updated all the gnome components that fink was reporting to be outdated. But, these were obviously not all the components of gnome, and certainly not all components of gnucash.

So, I suppose I need to check the .info file for gnucash and rebuild every package on which it depends and then rebuild gnucash? I remember that the first time I installed gnucash, the number of dependencies was something like 150! I ain't got that kind of time, but if you have any suggestions about the packages that would make sense to rebuild, I would be very happy to hear it. I may also elect to just wait. :) Or switch to jgnash. (j/k)

Hi Peter,

Well, I managed to reproduce the same bug with guile 16 that someone else reported a while back.

http://article.gmane.org/gmane.os.apple.fink.general/17511/match=guile

I have followed the directions you gave at the time. The process that hangs is this:

20018 p1 R 0:30.02 /sw/bin/guile-1.6 -e main -s /sw/lib/ gnucash/override

and the gdb output looks like this:

[gast-e07:~] payam% gdb attach 20018

I reported on the list yesterday that Gnucash did finally launch yesterday. After letting guile throttle for 15 minutes today, however, nothing happens. HTH.
