Stan,
I've just printed successfully from gnumeric on 10.4.2. I've got
an Epson C80 hooked up on an Airport Extreme basestation (USB)
thru Rendezvous or whatever Apple's calling it nowadays. I printed
as lpr from gnumeric, just standard. It works. I had to go back
and manipulate the margins because the default was 0 on all four
(top, bottom, left, right), but that's easy to change.
The only other problem I had is that everywhere I've got averages
it only printed five pound signs (#####). I figured out that
changing the format of those cells to a fixed decimal that would
fit inside the cell let it print the number. A little weird but I
can work with that.
Also, print preview works like a charm. It even showed the #####'s
on the page. Very quick on printing too, after the first go. First
one took about 30 seconds, the rest (I've tested printed five
times now) all under 5 seconds to get started.
Since it goes through the lpr command it doesn't launch the OS X
GUI print utility thing so don't look for that to pop into your dock.
Good luck on upgrading,
Brandon

No,
The only way I've printed so far is to save as html and then
print what I needed from Safari. I've not played around with it
since I've updated. If I have any luck I'll let you know.
The path is required because of the following (only after
upgrading to Tiger):
Ice-Wolf:~ gbp$ gnumeric
dyld: lazy symbol binding failed: Symbol not found: _EVP_idea_cbc
Referenced from: /sw/lib/libssl.0.9.7.dylib
Expected in: /usr/lib/libcrypto.0.9.7.dylib

Referenced from: /sw/lib/libssl.0.9.7.dylib
Expected in: /usr/lib/libcrypto.0.9.7.dylib
Trace/BPT trap
Ice-Wolf:~ gbp$
I'm not sure what happened during the upgrade but from the
archives gnucash is also affected with the same problem.
Have a good day,
Brandon

Mention of Gnumeric always gets my hopes up. I use it and have
used it for some time. However, for some time I have been unable
to print from the application. I have reported it in gnome
bugzilla in the past and have addressed the problem in the fink
lists. Others have confirmed their inability to print but no
solution (to my knowledge) has been posted.
The most obvious evidence of a problem is when "Print Preview"
is selected. The response is a preview page with "No visible
output was created" printed in red on the page. Page setup does
not allow selection of page sizes; however, the print dialog
page does allow page size selection if "generic postscript"
printer is chosen (using CUPS). Nothing is output to lp, however.
I would appreciate knowing whether you were able to print (with
OS 10.3.9 and gnumeric - latest version at the time you switched
to 10.4).
I am using XFree86, Gnome, and all updates are current in the
unstable branch of Fink.
I am also curious as to what the explicit path setting
accomplished.
env DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH=/sw/lib gnumeric
Thanks for any help you can provide.
Stan
Thanks for the report!
Stan
Wow! - it prints for me too now. I have waited so long for this. I
don't know who is responsible for the fix(es), but thank you very much.
OS X 10.4.2, fink packages gnumeric 1.4.1-11 and libgnomeprint2.2
2.10.3-1
