Using gcc-3.3 would explain how I was able to move on, I guess.
How did you manage to get this? Do you have a symlink /sw/bin/gcc-
>gcc-3.3 or something? Your earlier output shows that you have
gcc_select set to 4.0.

To follow up--I discovered that I had a residual gcc->gcc3.3 pointer
from a CVS install of Fink:

So I was using gcc3.3 not gcc4. Rosegarden still doesn't get along
with gcc4
