Still, the same problem with imagemagick showed up as on the computers
where I had upgraded to Tiger from Panther (I'm kind of glad I haven't
yet upgraded on the computer where I do most of my work...)

But your comment leads me to the question: Did you (Martin) have any other
X11, apart from Apple's, installed on your computer?
