I then did the following:
1. copied the unison-2.13-x11 binary to my 10.3.9 machine
and verified that it runs OK (including the first gui pane).
2. synced the two archives I tried earlier in this thread,
running the unison-2.13-x11 gui on the 10.4.2 machine: both
worked without any hitches, so for me the glib2 error is
gone in this version on 10.4.2.
The glib2 problem _may_ now be fixed in 2.10.2, too -- it contains
numerous semi-official patches. I'd be interested to know.
I just tried this running unison-2.10.2-x11 on my 10.4.2
machine and syncing with the 10.3.9 machine (where only the
text-based functions will run so it should work there). The
functionality is certainly different from the 10.3.9 gui
version, it didn't open a window for my password (one of the
other bugs I noticed was this didn't work properly). It
seems to work, though I haven't changed these archives since
last night's tests so it only reported that the replicas
were identical... So, a promising though not definitive
test.
There's no reason why the new unison package shouldn't be added to the
10.3 tree too. Perhaps someone could test and commit it?
I don't know how to do this, but if someone gives me .info
and .patch files for 10.3.9 I'll be happy to test them
(until I update that machine to Tiger, probably next week or
so).
