If you can do it without having other packages complain, go for it--I believe in Tiger we're trying to phase out dependencies on freetype versions older than that which is included with Apple X11. You may want to remove freetype-hinting and freetype-hinting-shlibs + whatever depends on them, anyway (if they're not something you need while you're waiting for oo.org to finish). -- Alexander K.
