Was there anything that looked wrong immediately before what you've quoted?

It's generally a good idea to quote the last compiler line ("gcc <lots
of stuff?) so that we can tell if things are getting linked that
shouldn't.
Also, since this pacakge version occurs both in the 10.3 and 10.4*
distributions, specifying which OS you're on as well as the XCode
version you've got installed is generally helpful.
