Hi,

I have a problem with gnome after installing it via the bundle-gnome package. When I launch gnome-session via .xinitrc, the window manager starts and I get the desktop. However, the applications menu to the upper left is completely empty and when I try to open any file it says "there is no application associated with ...".

Furthermore, if I open a shell and launch "gnome-control-center" manually it either displays an error message that it couldn't open "preferences:///" or opens a Nautilus window which freezes and does nothing.

The Fink FAQ tells me to install "yelp" manually. However, yelp was already installed automatically (I am pretty sure that I did not do this manually).

Apparently, there are some preference files which are not properly installed. I have no idea what to put where, though. Is there any documentation apart from the /sw/share/doc tree?

Thanks,
        Wolfram
