Some more information that might help...I noticed that some pages display
incorrectly on the G5 server compared to the TiBook (both running the exact
same binary built on the server). Screen-shots are here:

TiBook: http://quantum.leeds.ac.uk/~viv/moz-TiBook.jpg
This looks like you have defined your own style sheet (no idea how one does
this): The links are not underlined, for example, as they are by default. In
I have no idea how one does this either. To remove the
underline from the links I just unchecked the box in
edit->preferences->appearance->colors. I do still have the
box checked to use the page definitions rather than my own,
if provided.
the "quinze" example, it is the <PRE> tag that is mis-interpreted, perhaps
because of some rogue font that is chosen by the style sheet.
OK, think I got it, it is a font problem. Remember when
(under 10.3) one needed to have a ~/.fonts dir correctly
populated with simlinks to get bold fonts in mozilla??
When I restored my home dir on the TiBook and G5 after
installing Tiger, the G5 got the old .fonts dir, but the
TiBook did not. Bold fonts worked on both, so I never
checked until now (and I only finally figured after much
testing with your test.html suggestion, many thanks).
Removing the .fonts dir on the G5 restores the correct
rendering of the test page. I cannot yet see if mozilla is
more stable because I won't be working on that machine
directly until I'm back at work after the New Year. But
there is a good chance the crashes are all somehow
font-related (even scrolling ones, if they bring a suspect
font into view on the page).
Many thanks for providing the crucial clue!
cheers,
