Well, 1.3.4 doesn't seem to be cutting it either. Here's a copy of an email I just sent to someone else who's having the same problem.
Hello, downgrading doxygen did not help: it still crashes while compiling kdelibs, although the crash is different...Is there any way out of this ?Also, yes I have seen that a similar bug report was on the mailing list last month. One of the replies said that fink would soon use the upgraded doxygen version. This does not seem to do any good unfortunately (1.4.6 is latest latest version of doxygen).Jean-NoëlDoxygen really sucks. :( OK, I know that 1.4.3 crashed and 1.3.4 worked with and older kdelibs, but doesn't seem to anymore. I successfully built kdelibs not long ago with, I think, 1.4.5. If you have the doxygen 1.4.5 deb file on your system, you can try "sudo apt-get install doxygen=1.4.5-1" and then try again. If you don't have it, I can send you a copy. I don't really have another suggestion except that doxygen should die a slow and painful death.
Argh! I just checked and I last built kdelibs on 10/23/05 at which time doxygen was 1.4.3-3 not 1.4.5-1. But I also remember 1.4.3 crashing at some point, so it seems like any version can crash at any time for any reason. :(
