First, let me ask a question: Will fink from cvs head work on 10.3?
... because I tried to install it and I failed miserably. I have this:

... but I also have another problem that I believe predates and
underlies this one. When I open a terminal window I see:

Last time I had something like this (on a different computer) I did one
of these to look for the problem:
reg148:~ rgrtw$ grep "ccp4.setup-sh" /etc/profile /sw/bin/init.sh
/sw/etc/profile.d/*
/sw/etc/profile.d/ccp4.sh:. /sw/share/xtal/ccp4-5.0.2/include/ccp4.setup-sh
Now it is true that I had tried to build ccp4 but it failed and is not
installed (which means I can't remove it).
So fink selfupdate fails, fink rebuild fink fails, fink rebuild ccp4
fails, and there are other things I've tried that don't work also.
I should mention that fink selfupdate will sometimes tell me the name of
the buildlock that I need to remove, but other times it just fails. I
have put several of my attempts here:

I am completely open to suggestion and prepared to provide any data that
might be helpful.
