fink needs help picking an alternative to satisfy a virtual dependency.
The candidates:
(1) boost1.32-py23: Portable Peer-review C++ Source Libraries
(2) boost1.32-py24: Portable Peer-review C++ Source Libraries
You can actually choose whichever you want here. The dependency of the
boost1.32-pyXX packages on a specific python version is bogus. I am not
the maintainer and cannot fix it.
Is the "real" solution to switch boost1.32.python to build all the
.dylib and convert boost1.32-pyXX to build only the python bindings
(linking against boost1.32.python)? That way other packages that need
just the boost libs could avoid the bogus python version choice?
I don't have time right now to do lengthy checks, but I did some a
couple of months ago, and what I found (plus the non-existing feedback,
in particular from Mark Treiber, the maintainer of the previous boost
packages) led me to the introduction of the boost1.32.python package.
The story is visible here:
http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.os.macosx.fink.devel/11224
It is explained there why I think there should be no pyXX variants at
all, and also the conclusion there is still valid:
Please do *not* improve or fix or otherwise change the boost1.32-py
package now. If anyone wants to use the boost.python libraries, then
they should install one of the two boost1.32-py2[3|4]-1.32.0-2 packages
plus the new boost1.32.python-1.32.0-11 package. For an upcoming
boost1.33 package, I suggest to put all this together in one package
(plus -shlibs splitoff) and drop any variants.
