Hi, Citizens:

On one of my machines, if I remotely log in with ssh -Y and try to display a glx program, I get a blank window and an error message, eg:

% glxgears
failed to bind to surface

On three others under apparently identical circumstances, it works fine.

Here is more verbose output:

% glxgears
debug1: client_input_channel_open: ctype x11 rchan 3 win 65536 max 16384
debug1: client_request_x11: request from ::1 55188
debug2: fd 7 setting O_NONBLOCK
debug2: fd 7 is O_NONBLOCK
debug1: channel 1: new [x11]
debug1: confirm x11
failed to bind to surface
128579 frames in 5.0 seconds = 25715.801 FPS
157730 frames in 5.0 seconds = 31546.000 FPS

This is from the computer upon which it does work [sic]:

% glxgears
debug1: client_input_channel_open: ctype x11 rchan 3 win 65536 max 16384
debug1: client_request_x11: request from ::1 57883
debug2: fd 7 setting O_NONBLOCK
debug2: fd 7 is O_NONBLOCK
debug1: channel 1: new [x11]
debug1: confirm x11
kCGErrorRangeCheck : Window Server communications from outside of session allowed for root and console user only
debug2: channel 1: window 65360 sent adjust 65712
debug2: channel 1: window 49168 sent adjust 63852

Any ideas? Why the kCGErrorRangeCheck on the machine upon which this works?

Thanks in advance.

Bill Scott
