A little feedback in case someone else tries to install evolution.
Evolution client and server both installed on 10.3. As often happens
there were dependency problems. What ended up working was to install
the -shlibs package by itself, then the -dev package and finally the
_main_ package. Incidentally that seems to be the strategy that works
best when Fink fails because of dependencies for any installation.
Galeon and Evolution both gave a bunch of scrollkeeper warnings like
the one below that I copied from the end of the Galeon install. If
memory serves they are nothing to be concerned about and scrollkeeper
will find everything the next time it gets built.
I believe Evolution also gave an error about the developer
documentation not getting installed. It was missing a dependency but I
cannot remember what the package was called. Possibly gtk-docs but do
not quote me on it. I guess I should have made a note of it at the
time. Sorry about that!
Evolution unstable looks quite smart and feature rich from the little
that I checked around inside. Too bad it crashed three times on me.
The new ekiga (aka gnomemeeting) is supposed to integrate with it as
well and give voip telephony capabilities. All of it is to be able to
access internet phone hardware, full PBX features in software and the
kphone (KDE) and gnomephone (Gnome, duh) software phones. Hopefully we
get to see that. If there is anything that I can do to help someone
with those let me know.
