I thought I had Python 2.4.3 but I just realized Python 2.4.2 is the latest version from Fink.
So I went to Python.org and downloaded the latest MacPython version, which is a Universal Binary of 2.4.3. After installing it, I tried building GMPY. It builds and loads ok. So there has to be a problem either with 2.4.2 or the way Fink compiles it. What else could I do to try to discard any problems?
