I use fink to run Inkscape and Gimp and since this was my first time using open source (fall '05), it involved a steep learning curve. Fink was difficult at first and, because it offers so much I still find it a little confusing at times, however, the fink community has made everything possible. When I had questions, they were answered quickly and intelligently. Fink makes it fact easy to fix problems. My Inkscape install runs very well on Fink and I use it all the time, it is in fact mission critical. I stopped using Photoshop (older version, no need to update any more) as a result. My move was precipitated when I was going to purchase freehand from Macromedia and learned that the Adobe buy, out would eventually discontinue freehand. I work for hours and hours without ever giving Fink a second thought, I can't think of any better thing to say. Daniel Culver Artist/Silversmith California Oct '05
