Ok, I can't find my 10.4 install disks to reinstall Apple's x11 which seems to be the reason pan is giving me problems. What do I need to do to use a fink xwindows package? I'm a little confused at the difference between xfree86 and gnome and all of the window managers out there. Is gnome just another window manger that runs on top of xfree86? Do I need to do the x11 removal process as stated in the fink FAQ#7.2, then install xfree86 then gnome, or does gnome not need xfree86? fink list xfree86 gives: i system-xfree86 2:4.3-2 [placeholder for user installed x11] i system-xfree86-dev 2:4.3-2 [placeholder for user installed x11 development tools] system-xfree86-manual-... 0-0 Manually installed X11 components i system-xfree86-shlibs 2:4.3-2 [placeholder for user installed x11 shared libraries] xfree86 4.5.0-1040 Free X11 implementation for Darwin and Mac OS X p xfree86-base-threaded [virtual package] xfree86-base-threaded-dev [virtual package] p xfree86-base-threaded-...
