good for you then !?

i guess half my point was there is bound to be
a (i386) tarball upstream somwhere, sometimes these
things will compile if you try it. lots of places you
can look probably...

i am mostly in linix these days, just watching tiger developments.

to much push for these new releases, in my opinion. tiger
is still developing and now leopard is coming, too.

linix used to release when ready but apparently times have changed.

with multiple architectures, sometimes need multiple maintainers,
or assistants. like i said i may never get intel. but i am using gcc4 now
in linix on a g4, that is in my opinion really needing for
better support on g4/g5 even. still new though, there is no
way to have it other than to be running multiple platforms/
and/or os's (my g4 has 4 os, and i have a couple more running
on other machines too) -- if i want to do any production work.

some people tried gcc4 with jaguar/panther too: i guess
it might help to break the porting into smaller steps; might
it could be of little practical use otherwise, because of incompatible
linking ...

of course another option for you is to run in parallel, isn't it ?
this never worked on my jaguar installation, and i never used
it much in panther. it sounds like a hassle, but i think if you
run dual heads then it is a little easier than switching with
one screen.
