lyx-qtmac from your experimental directory works exactly as expected.
That means, everything works fine, except for the following two
things, which I've reported to lyx-devel:
* After loading a file and starting to work on it, the LyX menu
rearranges itself so that menu items don't correspond to the correct
LyX functions. I've been told that this probably won't be addressed
until the 1.4.3 release.
* When cutting a math or table inset and doing a save-and-quit
immediately afterwards, the program crashes. Fortunately, this never
causes any loss of data because the save is done before the crash
occurs.
The latter is the bug I mentioned on this list before. I'm surprised
that you can't reproduce it. Did you see my follow-up clarification
of how to get the bug?

Jeff did manage to reproduce this with lyx-qt after I corrected my
initial sloppy wording.
