Force removing finance-quotehist-pm586 and finance-quote-pm586 from
Fink has done the trick. Gnucash 1.8.12 (in Fink) found my
system-installed Finance::Quote 1.12 without any configuration
changes. Gnucash 2.0.1 (compiled in /usr/local) is now able to find
it as well.

I think I am ready to upgrade! Thanks for your help!
