Thanks.  I reinstalled xorg and xorg-shlibs with no errors (should I have rebuilt?), and I'm now trying again to install koffice (it will take a while).  I'm not sure if my problems are with my xorg installation, since I have tons of other X11-dependent packages, but we will see what happens.

I have a sneaking suspicion your xorg didn't fully install, or else you'd have a -lX11 and such in that command-line.

What happens if you "fink reinstall xorg xorg-shlibs"?  Does it spit out errors?
