After an offline discussion with Christian Schaffner, I determined that this workaround fixed the issue: fink rebuild svn-shlibs fink rebuild svn-swig-pm586 Note that order matters! The swig bindings must be rebuilt after the svn-shlibs. In my case, the problematic svn-shlibs deb came from the Todai unstable bindist. Christian is trying to figure out what's odd with the Todai version.
