IIRC apt (and other front-ends) all hand off to dpkg to do actual
package installation/removal. I've got a dpkg in my exp that runs
wrappers around the {PremPost}{Inst,Rm} scripts, and the
"dpkg-wrappers" branch of the base-files module in fink CVS has
wrappers that load init.sh. Haven't looked at it since last summer,
but it used to work and "fortunately" we haven't upgraded dpkg so not
too bit-rotten I hope.
