With help from Martin C. I was able to compile wine-0.9.30.

Unfortunately, apps that previously ran via wine are now crashing. 
For example, Bringer.exe (a chess program) now bombs (see below).

Any help would be appreciated. I am using OS X 10.4.9 on an iMac 
with a 2 GHz Core Duo processor and 2 GB of memory.
