I'm getting a really verbose failure trying to build maxima:

This is on PPC 10.4.10 Server, case sensitive file system
and powerpc-apple-darwin8-gcc-4.0.1 (GCC) 4.0.1 (Apple
Computer, Inc. build 5367). Up to date unstable except for
the things behind maxima in the update-all queue. I tried
twice and got the same exact messages both times (in between
successfully compiling fontforge).
I suspect it is an unhappy interaction with something
specific to my system, but I have no idea what, I've never
seen anything like it before. Help much appreciated...
