This only works in an SSH session sometimes; I never figured out how to
predict exactly whether it'll work, but it involves the OS X WindowServer
in some fashion. If memory serves, older versions of OS X would give you
an error complaining that you can't access the WindowServer if the stars
aren't aligned just right; 10.4.10 just quits silently without doing
anything.

If you're in that position, try

  hdiutil mount xcode_2.4.1_8m1910_6936315.dmg

instead.
