Alex, I think I remember from earlier exchanges that Brad installed his Fink in /opt/local, which is not forbidden. But I agree with you that his porting efforts would perhaps be more fruitful for everyone if he directed them towards the pangocairo branch of Fink, instead of yet another packaging system for gnome.
