Ahh, I remembered you can run Tiger's X11 with the xorg X11R6 stuff. So I grabbed the Tiger X11 update, installed it as per these instructions http://lists.apple.com/archives/x11-users/2007/Nov/msg00005.html after moving fink's xorg X11R6 aside, then swapped it back in. And the cursor is fine (with the yellow cursor fix in place, I already put that into fink's X11R6 earlier). But cut'n'paste only works from Aqua -> X (it works both directions with XDarwin). I'll see if I can improve that with some different settings. (I seem to recall something about quartz-wm --proxy-only as well as autocutsel, which got the aqua->X paste working). And the windows open with a vertical offset to leave room for the menu bar (non-existant with my window manager) but I can work around that. And trivial but curious, the "root pixel" is back (in the bottom right corner). That was present in Tiger for XDarwin too, but not Leopard. (I'm using qiv to set my background picture and I thought it was a qiv artifact until it went away under Leopard.) Finger's crossed this is now a viable "production" set up for my needs until things develop a bit further with the Leopard X11. cheers, -- Viv ------------------------------------------------ Dr Viv Kendon http://quantum.leeds.ac.uk/~viv Quantum Information Physics & Astronomy University of Leeds ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Check out the new SourceForge.net Marketplace.
