Yeah, there seems to be. I tried using it during my first round of
problem solving, but quickly abandoned it as an option. Here's what I
get when I use the core audio plugin:

    xmms-coreaudio version 1.0-4
    Same XMMS version as before
    Same ESD version as before
Same MacOS Audio MIDI Setup as before
    Now running MacOS X 10.5.3

From X11, here's the sequence of commands I sent:

        bash-3.2$ /sw/bin/esd &
        [1] 1573
        bash-3.2$ /sw/bin/xmms

XMMS's Output Plugin is set to
       OSX Driver 1.0 [libOSX.so]

I have an MP3 queued up in the play list. The second I double click on
it (or any audio file) or click on the play button it's self the XMMS
window vanishes after about a one second delay, and my X11 shell has the
following error message for me:

        bash-3.2$ /sw/bin/xmms
        Floating point exception
        bash-3.2$

And a check of the ESD shows it's still running:

bash-3.2$ ps -awx | grep esd
           99 ?? 0:12.09 /System/Library/CoreServices/coreservicesd
         1573 ttys004 0:00.05 /sw/bin/esd
         1581 ttys004 0:00.00 grep esd
        bash-3.2$

I haven't been able to find a switch to call XMMS with so that it will
produce a log file, nor is there a file automatically generated in
/sw/var/log for me to provide:/

So every direction I try to wiggle around this issue seems to come up
against a brick wall. Both my output plugins fail in different, but
catastrophic ways, and I can't find a way to generate a log file to give
me any much needed hints.

Is there any other information I can provide here?

P.S. Please note my e-mail address has changed from
[EMAIL PROTECTED] to [EMAIL PROTECTED] The old address
will still work, but is unstable, please update your contacts with
this new one:)

Just another synaptic miss fire somewhere in the mind of...
