I assume you mean xcode-3.1.1. This is the currently recommended 
version.  The main difference to 3.0 is that is has a different bug 
population. There are a couple of bugs that are fixed and some others, 
AFAIK all concerning X11, newly introduced. Nothing that can't be worked 
around.
