Reading through the wine.info file resolved problem with running vanilla
Wine build (which is all that Fink does anyway.)  Had to add the line:

export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/sw/lib:/usr/lib:/usr/local/lib and Wine is
running JUST FINE....

Now to fixing other problems with this program series.
