I had not yet updated libmal10.  It was in the update command with the  
kdepim3 files, but kdepim3 files were executed first, so the kdepim3  
build died.  I updated the libmal10 files by themselves which also  
updated pilot09 files.  Then I ran the kdepim3 update, and it  
completed sucessfully.
Thanks for the advice Alexander, you were on target as usual.  Sorry I  
did not see this myself which would have saved us both some trouble.
