I'm not 100% sure whether our gfortrans (e.g. from gcc43 or gcc44) can
take those flags.
Packages built with gfortran _do_ often to a dynamic library from those
packages, e.g. libgfortran.3.dylib.  Since those libraries aren't
universal themselves, that would tend to make universal builds problematic.
