I also have the file web2c/updmap.cfg

but I am not sure where it came from. dpkg -S web2c/updmap.cfg also
gives me just one answer (same as yours). It might have been left
there by a previous installation of ptex or similar package (not
sure).

I just removed the directory /sw/etc/texmf-config/web2c manually, and
texlive installs ok,
