I do "wish" to and I did unerstand but for some reason Finder didn't
find any file which would reffer to libiconv.la 
In the meantime I used  grep -r libiconv.la * and I did find a lot
files asking for it. (I have no idea why Finder using "Contents" option
could not find the files.) But instead of writing a script which would
take libiconv.la out of them I opted for a quicker option    
you suggested

fink reinstall libiconv-dev

and now everything seems to be settled down.  
fink update-all finished without a prblem and installed
everthing.
