I got several troubles too while reinstalling Fink two weeks ago. I don't use anything in Fink about x11, just installed Apple's pkg on 10.4.11. Here are some informations:
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Case 1: If i start from Terminal, for example startx, the xinitrc should be like this: http://paste.lisp.org/+1ZRD - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Case 2 If i launch X11.app, it doesn't care of my ".pet" files. There was a discussion on IRC about that, so I use ~/.MacOSX/environment.plist: http://paste.lisp.org/+1ZRE ( Thanks Alexander Hansen about the informations) You can touch ~/.MacOSX/environment.plist and edit it with any editor provided by XCode So my .xinitrc contains now only that: #! /bin/sh exec /usr/X11R6/bin/quartz-wm & exec gnome-session I'm using this config right now: Case 2, environment.plist + light xinitrc ( I have no bashrc or stuff foorc in my home, only .profile ) and that works well - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Case 3: New install, and something's gone wrong ! I cleaned and reinstalled everything, but this time using the stable tree. Some stuff went wrong. So i * backup my ".pet" files / directories, * i removed every ".pet" that could be on my way to run X11 correctly with gnome, which means a few directories / files like .Xauthority, .gconfX, .gnome2, .gnome2_private, .metacity for example, * restart (to clean /tmp) * launch a Console.app, * then launch X11.app You should be able to fix most of your issues Hope this may help, Cheers ! 火曜日 05 1月 2010 05:53:56 に Stan Sanderson さんは書きました: > From: Stan Sanderson <[email protected]> > Sender: Stan Sanderson <[email protected]> > Reply-To: Stan Sanderson <[email protected]> > To: Alexander Hansen <[email protected]> > CC: fink users <[email protected]> > Subject: [Fink-users] gnome startup > Message-ID: <[email protected]> > In-Reply-To: <[email protected]> > References: <[email protected]> > <[email protected]> > Date: Mon, 4 Jan 2010 14:53:56 -0600 > Content-Type: text/plain > > Return-Path: <[email protected]> > Received: from mtain-da08.r1000.mx.aol.com (mtain-da08.r1000.mx.aol.com > [172.29.64.80]) by air-de02.mail.aol.com (v126.13) with ESMTP id > MAILINDE023-5ea84b425bd13cc; Mon, 04 Jan 2010 16:21:21 -0500 Received: from > lists.sourceforge.net (lists.sourceforge.net [216.34.181.88]) by > mtain-da08.r1000.mx.aol.com (Internet Inbound) with ESMTP id C064138000173 > for <[email protected]>; Mon, 4 Jan 2010 16:21:18 -0500 (EST) > Received: from localhost ([127.0.0.1] > helo=sfs-ml-2.v29.ch3.sourceforge.com) by sfs-ml-2.v29.ch3.sourceforge.com > with esmtp (Exim 4.69) > (envelope-from <[email protected]>) > id 1NRuM6-0003Fi-RH; Mon, 04 Jan 2010 21:20:50 +0000 > Received: from sfi-mx-4.v28.ch3.sourceforge.com ([172.29.28.124] > helo=mx.sourceforge.net) > by sfs-ml-2.v29.ch3.sourceforge.com with esmtp (Exim 4.69) > (envelope-from <[email protected]>) id 1NRuM5-0003Fc-Ug > for [email protected]; Mon, 04 Jan 2010 21:20:49 +0000 > X-ACL-Warn: > Received: from smtp110.sbc.mail.gq1.yahoo.com ([67.195.14.95]) > by sfi-mx-4.v28.ch3.sourceforge.com with smtp (Exim 4.69) > id 1NRuLz-0006gs-TW > for [email protected]; Mon, 04 Jan 2010 21:20:49 +0000 > Received: (qmail 30897 invoked from network); 4 Jan 2010 20:53:58 -0000 > Received: from adsl-99-142-6-70.dsl.emhril.sbcglobal.net > ([email protected] with plain) > by smtp110.sbc.mail.gq1.yahoo.com with SMTP; > 04 Jan 2010 12:53:58 -0800 PST > X-Yahoo-SMTP: VLzRtJSswBCWuH.EKr_etKS9xcqvhdsBlfViI6wE4196L4AFZAY- > X-YMail-OSG: > ZazKXEcVM1mRsltAXGoV8cvSxv9oHvmCf6MndSsYAswc1y3llH7U468GryIKmkcSrfzIt2UqoOI >Noc5y1fQDOENtXccTIl_wi5y6Xq8lfGNauUjDS1xAjYYDGtNrDdNcCvBH_2bkzaW5HPqTmuH7iu. >w2d1ryxcnlGvtC1SZw.WAk0_lGe31mLw_B7o8s6Tn8VRokXkRUwCF3vAQF8pOBGt61xOX354LuWI >VBkSg5_13CAy4NA4nsSa9FwOGE.PCGP6SGvWUmWlrRiQ06wI9z3ujI.0nOX1qC8Przq6sLAG82vJ >E1X.nax43rDAD84kWf8uwBAS90iMl7yX3MAroaIBtJcNMTIIkrq.vnW3tS3ghh.ZOzcRsgYFSA1P >QqPp3ICl7HrZVKEUxgOa4uQM8ilHfjUlGrAbSSvqqy5CxLfVr5ajaB1pewvpFxHt5SCPiwP1YMaM >JBkPVuKtE2PX6Qtvx1OqFoFBf8ekl77LzwSkXZSiuUsHR.SLHJktGHKT9s8nehGAGwj7n.umTIai >dNlbH.MKKqQ-- X-Yahoo-Newman-Property: ymail-3 > Message-Id: <[email protected]> > From: Stan Sanderson <[email protected]> > To: Alexander Hansen <[email protected]> > In-Reply-To: <[email protected]> > Mime-Version: 1.0 (Apple Message framework v936) > Date: Mon, 4 Jan 2010 14:53:56 -0600 > References: <[email protected]> > <[email protected]> > X-Mailer: Apple Mail (2.936) > X-Spam-Score: 0.0 (/) > X-Spam-Report: Spam Filtering performed by mx.sourceforge.net. > See http://spamassassin.org/tag/ for more details. > 0.0 UNPARSEABLE_RELAY Informational: message has unparseable relay > lines > -0.0 DKIM_VERIFIED Domain Keys Identified Mail: signature passes > verification > 0.0 DKIM_SIGNED Domain Keys Identified Mail: message has a signature > X-Headers-End: 1NRuLz-0006gs-TW > Cc: fink users <[email protected]> > Subject: [Fink-users] gnome startup > X-BeenThere: [email protected] > X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.9 > Precedence: list > List-Id: General discussion and support for Fink users > <fink-users.lists.sourceforge.net> > List-Unsubscribe: > <https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/fink-users>, > <mailto:[email protected]?subject=unsubscribe> > List-Archive: > <http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?forum_name=fink-users> > List-Post: <mailto:[email protected]> > List-Help: <mailto:[email protected]?subject=help> > List-Subscribe: <https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/fink-users>, > <mailto:[email protected]?subject=subscribe> > Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" > Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit > Errors-To: [email protected] > x-aol-global-disposition: G > x-aol-sid: 3039ac1d40504b425bce2c00 > X-AOL-IP: 216.34.181.88 > > On Jan 3, 2010, at 8:26 PM, Alexander Hansen wrote: > > You need to start X11 with quartz-wm in --only-proxy mode.
